Introducing Tu Chwith
tu chwith is an unique, fresh and radical magazine which presents new writing and discusses the arts, culture and the world around us through the medium of Welsh. As the magazine’s motto suggests ‘tu chwith mae gweld y byd’ (inside-out is the way to see the world), we aim to publish sharp Welsh language writing from Wales. tu chwith wishes to showcae new writers and anyone who is prepared to think outside the box.
Every issue of the bi-annual magazine explores a different theme, and recent themes have included ‘City’, ‘No!’, ‘Change’ and ‘Map of the World’. In an issue of tu chwith you will come across creative writing from new authors and experienced authors, and alternative articles and essays. Also, the magazine publishes images by young artists from Wales as well as reviews and criticism.
Many people find tu chwith in sixth form or university and are inspired by the fresh writing in Welsh and about their Wales. The magazine would also interest learners who want to read gritty material in Welsh.
The magazine was founded in the early 90s by Simon Brooks and a group of students in Aberystwyth who wanted to publish radical writing. The launch of tu chwith’s new website will continue in this spirit and we hope tuchwith.com will be a community for young writers containing news, tips from experienced writers, material from the archives and much more!
tu chwith is financed by The Welsh Book Council
